2009 was a year of intense preparation filled with mixed emotions: joy, frustration, fear, but mostly an overwhelming feeling of excitement. Peter and Bruce after many years in optics took the plunge and on 1 November 2009 Uber Optical opened for business.

10 Years on… we are very proud of all we have accomplished and are especially grateful to our dedicated staff who have always gone far beyond what is required of them and we thank them for the contribution they make to ensure that we are constantly improving.

The Uber Business Philosophy is based on the simple marketing principle of; “finding out what the customer wants and then providing it”. The fundamental business approach is to establish long-term relationships with customers and to be flexible to the needs of the optometrist. The strength of Uber’s offering lies in the fact that we represent an extensive collection of frame ranges, from brands to budget over a large price range. We feel privileged that our suppliers have shown confidence in us and have created solid partnerships with us.

The Uber Management and team has over many years, seen massive changes in the optical industry, but have always managed to adapt. What hasn’t changed is the Uber team’s commitment to building relationships with our customers.

As our name reflects our focus is to provide “Uber” optical frames i.e. The “best” optical frames.

We believe that our years in the optical industry has provided us with the necessary experience to source and provide product to cover all the requirements of the optical retailer from Brand to Budget.

Offices and stores are located in Cape Town from where we service the whole of Southern Africa.


We are very fortunate to have a staff complement that have many years of experience in optics and are knowledgeable and passionate about the industry we serve and dedicated to providing the highest level of service. The Uber reps service the whole of South Africa and Namibia on an 8 to 10 week cycle.


We are privileged to have overseas suppliers who have entrusted us with their products and brands and are therefore able to offer a wide variety of frame ranges.
